Joyous Wolf: Definitively HOT ROCK

Seattle’s heat index pushed fans at El Corazon to their limit on the hottest day of June 2019 for one hot show. At more than 120 degrees inside the venue, Joyous Wolf emerged on the stage… ready to ROCK! The venue was at full capacity, and the band performed with non-stop energy. They had incredible fan interaction from the first notes to the last. Not letting the lack of space affect his energy level, lead singer Nick Reese parted the crowd at one point in their set, proceeded to run through it, and did a few flips in what little empty floor space that he could find before continuing to jump, shout, and react with the crowd’s exuberant cheers. He never let the heat in the room stop him from showcasing his talent and excitement of giving fans (what I’ll call), the Joyous Wolf experience.

With only one EP under their belt, Place In Time (April ’19), you’d think they may not have found their niche. You’d be wrong. They have the sound of “classic” rock from the 70’s mixed in with vocal sounds from the 90’s such as Chris Cornell (Soundgarden) or perhaps Brandon Boyd (Incubus). These sounds come through both throughout their EP as well as Joyous Wolf’s cover of Mississippi Queen, (Mountain – Feb ’70), which has been getting a lot of love on all music platforms, especially over on YouTube. Although musical genres are much broader than they used to be, their music rings true to what rock was back then, proving that it’s what fans are still clamoring for. They are giving what flows from within their own spin on traditional or classic rock music. They are exemplifying these sounds by creating catchy riffs and vocal harmonies, and they’re sharing them with fans across the country on multiple tours, including their current list of dates opening for Buckcherry.
